Two murders in three days

It has been four years since a murder has occurred in St. Bernard Parish, but that ended last Tuesday night when the 19-year-old Truy Jones was shot to death in Violet.

The next day, Grid Reddick, 18, was arrested for Jones’ murder; he is currently being held on a $1 million bond for second-degree murder. The Sheriff’s Department says Reddick has no previous criminal record.

A day after this arrest, 30-year old Joseph Cossé was killed, also in Violet, marking the community’s second murder in three days. Before these killings, the last murder to occur in Violet was in 2009.

Sheriff James Pohlmann says that the Department is looking into a connection between the two murders. They are currently following up on several leads, but no other arrests have been made.

If anyone has any information regarding these murders please call the Sheriff’s Department at 504.271.2501 or call Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111.
